Blessed are the Broodmares!

It is our goal to have a wide selection of the very best brood mares at Sunset Farm. These are the mares that are producing the next generation of prospects and, wishing to contribute positively to the American Saddlebred breed, we try to identify mares with the finest qualities.

Sometimes people ask me what I look for when I select a brood mare and I have discovered, as have many before me, that "attitude is everything." In fact, some of my best producing brood mares are almost plain to look at in the field, whereas some are "drop dead gorgeous"! This is definitely not an exact science.

Unfortunately, all our brood mares are for sale!! I say this because, in order to succeed, we must be prepared to sell our stock. After all, this is a business – even tho’ we love them one and all! Don't forget to check out our VIDEO page for the latest action footage of many of our horses.

This lovely mare has a stunning filly foal by Callaway's Northern Kiss by her side.

Highpoint's Starlet

This is a big, beautiful bay mare who produces long-necked showy foals. Her 2008 filly foal, Sunset Starlet, is already sold.

This lovely four year old was the Bluegrass Futurity winner, both as a weanling and as a yearling. She. has been shown in the three year old Park Pleasure classes in Kentucky, always in the top ribbons. In addition to a showy look and a high way of going, this mare is wonderful to work around.

My Lucky Song
(For What It's Worth x Song Worthy)

My Lucky Song is by the sire of ^wcVictoria Lyn and^wcPlatinum's New Look. Her second dam is by ^wcSire and wc Broodmare Sire^rwcLucky Commander. She is full of character and has a beautiful colt by her side by ^wcBasquiat. This colt really struts and has plenty of chrome!

Miss Angel Wings
(Catalyst X Arlene Fox)

This talented mare by Catalyst is out of the dam (now deceased) who produced Stravinsky (Nureyev). This mare was a high producing mare for us and Angel Wings looks as if she can follow in her footsteps. Her 2007 foal by Tango's Parting Kiss is high headed and charismatic. She is in foal to Golden Sword for 2008.

Reefing

This successful show mare is in foal to the highly regarded Samur (Roseridge Heir X Worthy Moment). She boast a great pedigree with her second dam being Half Penny Manor Calamity Jane. She is a great addition to any breeding program. Reefling is available for $15,000.

My Cup of Tea

Sire: Good Timen’ Man (by Catalyst)

Dam: Squash (by Attache)

This daughter of Squash will carry on her bloodlines and hopefully also produce a world champion for us. This mare has all her mother's qualities, along with those inherited from Good Timen Man. As a yearling, "Tea" won the Ohio Futurity. Her 2005 colt, Cup O’ Joe is a stunning flaxen mane and tailed gelding, now owned by Rachel and Maeve Tibbets. My Cup Of Tea has a foal by Commander In Chief at her side.
